The girls volleyball tournament was played at Union Mine yesterday and there was a ton of excitement. Teams in all divisions played tight games most of which went to 3 sets and saw the league’s middle school girls competing for every point.
In the 7th grade Division 1 tournament Markham came in as the #1 seed and put the pedal to the metal winning both of their matches and winning in the championship against Pleasant Grove.

The 7th grade Division 2 tournament included a mountain school battle in the semis between Sierra Ridge and Camino while Pleasant Valley came within 2 points of an upset over Gold Trail. Sierra Ridge and Gold Trail went to 3 games in the championship where Sierra Ridge prevailed as this year’s champion.

The 8th grade Division 1 championship like the 7th grade one was handled by the #1 seed. John Adams won impressively in all of their games to be named this year’s 8th grade D1 champs beating Markham in the final.

The 8th grade Division 2 tournament started with a couple of upsets including #8 CMP over #1 Gold Trail and #5 CHSA beating #4 Pleasant Valley. Sierra Ridge and Camino won their first round games and went to a 3rd game semifinal showdown where Sierra Ridge came out on top. CMP beat CHSA securing their place in the final game.
