The EDCSL flag football season enters the final week of the regular season this week with games Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. In Division 1 Pleasant Grove distanced themselves from the rest with wins over Camino last week. John Adams and Herbert Green both are seeking the final playoff spot. In Division 2 it’s Camino and Sierra Ridge atop the standings for 7th and 8th grade while Gold Trail, CMP, and Pleasant Valley seek the last spot in the playoffs for 7th grade while CHSA and CMP target the last spot in 8th grade. The playoffs will all be at Herbert Green with semifinal games on 10/7 and 10/8 followed by 4 championship games on 10/10.

The league’s girls volleyball season is similarly heading towards its conclusion. Teams compete this week and into the early portion of next week before brackets are formed for the Championship tournament on 10/12 at Union Mine High School. In 7th grade D2 there are 7 teams that have 2 or 3 wins, this week should prove which teams are solidly in the tournament and which ones are on the bubble. 7th grade D1 has Markham atop the standings while Valley View and John Adams seek the last spot in the tourney. In 8th grade D1 it’s John Adams in the top spot while Pleasant Grove is 2 games back of Herbert Green for 4th place qualifying. In 8th grade D2 Gold Trail is the leader and in D3 it’s Millers Hill.

The cross country league will be racing on Wednesday at Blue Oak, Millers Hill, Sierra Ridge, CSD in EDH hosted by Lakeview, and Union Mine. The Friday race is at Golden Sierra. This is week 3 of 4 practice weeks where runners are seeking to qualify for the finals in 3rd-8th grade divisions.
