Boys Soccer season concludes

This past Saturday the boys soccer season concluded with the championship tournament hosted by Union Mine High School.  The intensity of the play was on high as the teams from both Division 1 and Division 2 sought a banner.  This year two schools that hadn’t previously won a CSL soccer title finished on top.

In Division 2, Golden Hills came in as the top seed and held that spot winning their semi-final game by a wide margin before holding on to a narrow 3-2 victory over Camino.  Camino scored the first goal of the game followed by 3 goals from Golden Hills.  A late charge by Camino produced one more goal, but it wasn’t enough to keep GHS from earning their first banner in soccer.

In Division 1, John Adams Academy won the title after being close in the previous two seasons.  A semi-final game shoot-out victory against Herbert Green advanced this team to play against the top seeded Markham Panthers.  Markham held a 2-1 advantage into the final seconds of the game when JAA scored a tremendous goal from depth to tie the affair.  As they did in the semi-final, John Adams capitalized on great penalty kicking winning the championship in a shoot-out.
