The Boys Basketball season finished this past Friday and Saturday with tournaments for D1 and D2 for both 7th and 8th grade.  There were play-in games on Friday evening followed by Final 4 bracket play on Saturday.

The 7th grade D2 champion was the top seeded Camino Trojans who came into the tournament undefeated and played to the same degree beating Gold Trail and Golden Sierra on their way to their championship.

The 7th grade D1 champion this year are the Valley View Rattlers who beat Markham in the semifinal and then beat the always tough and well coached Pleasant Grove Pumas who were the regular season top team coming into the tournament, in a thriller.  Valley View got an early lead and held off a late surge by PG to be crowned champions.

The 8th grade D2 champions are the Golden Hills Hawks.  This team defied all the odds winning not one but two play-in games on Friday night.  The first win coming against Sierra Ridge in triple overtime, then beating the regular season 3, 2, and 1 seeds in CMP, Marble Valley, and Camino.

The 8th grade D1 champions are the Markham Panthers.  Their 8th grade team handled John Adams in the semi-final and built a 20 point halftime lead in the final against Pleasant Grove.  PG rallied, but only got the lead down to 7 before Markham finished the job and won the league’s top prize, Division 1 8th grade champs.
