Cross Country week 2, Football/Volleyball week 3

The Cross Country league continues this week with races on Wednesday and Friday.  This is the second of four qualifying weeks for the county finals.  Races on Wednesday are at Pleasant Valley, Schnell, Blue Oak, El Dorado Hills CSD hosted by Jackson, Gold Trail and McGarvey.  The Friday race is at El Dorado High School.

There are flag football games scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Pleasant Grove sits atop the standings for both 7th and 8th grade in Division 1 with Herbert Green and Markham in 2nd and 3rd in the 7th grade division and Valley View and John Adams in 2nd and 3rd in the 8th grade division.  Critical games this week for D1 are on Tuesday where Herbert Green and Markham play in the 7th grade and Valley View squares off with John Adams in 8th grade.

Camino is the top team for both 7th and 8th grade in Division 2.  They are trailed by Gold Trail and Sierra Ridge in both grades.  Gold Trail 7th has the #2 spot and Sierra Ridge 8th holds the #2 spot.  Sierra Ridge faces off against Gold Trail on Tuesday along with other potential playoff implication games at the bottom of the D2 and top of the D3 brackets.

Undefeated Pleasant Grove plays undefeated Camino on Tuesday with a matchup between D1 and D2’s best teams.

There are lots of games to keep an eye on in week 3 for flag football.

In Girls Volleyball Division 1 it’s Markham that is the lone undefeated team both 7th and 8th grade.  Pleasant Grove and Valley View hold the 2/3 spots in 7th grade and John Adams is a single loss behind in 8th grade.  Most of the matchups this week include crossover games between D1 and D2 which should provide opportunities for all of the D1 teams to improve their win column.  The D2 teams are all hoping to steal a big win against a D1 team, however which could help bolster their end of the season seed.

In D2 it’s still anyone’s game.  7th grade has three teams tied at 3-1 including Gold Trail, CMP, and CHSA.  Gold Trail and CMP will play on Tuesday.  The 8th grade has Pleasant Valley (4-1) a half game ahead of both Camino (3-1) and CMP (3-1).
